What is a Self-Installable Solar Kit and how does it work?

It's a system that allows you to generate your own electricity with the sun, without construction or technicians.
You place it on your balcony, roof or garden, plug it into the mains… and start saving!

What does the kit include and what are its advantages?

Solar panel, cables, micro inverter or battery (you choose) and optionally the support/fixing according to your installation location, all ready to use.

The advantages are:

  • Savings from day one
  • Quick and easy installation
  • Clean and silent energy
  • It works even without a battery or constant sunlight.

How long will it take for me to start seeing savings?

From your very first bill. Customers typically notice a reduction in electricity costs during the first month, and many recoup their entire investment in just a few years.

Do I need a professional to install the Solar Kit?

No. Our kits are 100% plug & play: simply plug the cable into a standard power outlet and start saving immediately. No electrician, no paperwork, no hidden installation costs.

What if I live in a rented apartment?

That's exactly who we designed this kit for. It requires no drilling or permanent installation. It's lightweight (27 kg), portable, and you can take it with you when you move.

What happens if I don't use all the energy generated?

  • It is returned to the electricity grid (if you have compensation): that value is deducted from your bill.
  • It's stored in a battery (if you have one): you use it later, for example, at night.
  • It is wasted (if you don't have a battery or compensation): the extra energy is not used.

That's why we recommend our smart battery , which automatically stores excess energy and helps you save even more, even when the sun isn't shining.

Which solar panels do we use?

We work with three types of panels, depending on where they will be installed:

  1. Jolywood 500 Wp Niwa JW-HD108N-R2 – glass-glass, bifacial, full black
  2. Trina 460 Wp Vertex S+ TSM-NEG9R.25 – glass-glass, full black
  3. Polyshine 200 Wp JY1-27H200PC – flexible panel, full black, for balconies and surfaces where rigid panels don't fit

You'll find the technical data on each product page.

Is it really safe?

Of course. Each unit includes a built-in fire extinguisher and is certified according to EU safety standards. We have already helped over 750 households in Germany use our kits with complete peace of mind.

Are our Self-Installable Solar Kits legal?

Yes, absolutely.

Plug-in solar kits are an easy and safe way to install solar panels at home. Although simple, they follow the same standards as any residential solar installation.

In Spain (and many other European countries), you can install systems up to 800W yourself without needing to register or certify them. To comply with regulations, you only need to install a smart meter (or a zero-export system), which prevents excess energy from being fed back into the grid.

The power output is determined by the microinverter, not the number of panels. All our kits include microinverters limited to 800W, thus complying with current regulations.

That's why these systems are known as Plug & Play solar kits: easy to install, safe and legal.

Do I need to register or sign up my self-installable solar kit?

In most cases, it is not mandatory to register your plug-in solar kit if it meets the basic requirements (power less than 800 W, plug connection, and zero export system).

But there is one important exception: if you want to receive compensation for the energy you do not consume, then you will need to legalize the installation.

The regulations governing this are Royal Decree 244/2019 , designed primarily for higher power installations connected directly to the electrical panel of the home.

For added peace of mind, we recommend registering your self-consumption installation. This way, you can not only benefit from compensation for surplus energy, but also access government subsidies for solar energy.

What would be the process to legalize a plug-in solar kit (Plug & Play) over 800W in Spain?

  1. Check the power rating and hire a certified installer

An Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE) signed by a qualified professional is required.
  2. Prepare the technical documentation
Up to 10 kW: technical specifications.
More than 10 kW: technical project signed by an engineer.
  3. Register the installation with Industry
At the competent body of your autonomous community (in person or online).
  4. Notify the distributor about the installation
Through the self-consumption form (owner's details, power, type of self-consumption).
  5. Request compensation for surpluses (optional)
You need a contract with a supplier and legalization as self-consumption with surplus energy.
  6. Complies with safety regulations (batteries)
ADR compliance, fire-safe installation, technical documentation.
  7. Obtain the CIE
Key document issued by the authorized installer.
  8. Keep all the documentation
CIE, report or project, registration in Industry, distributor communication, technical data sheet of the kit.

✅ Once the steps are completed, your kit will be legalized and you can benefit from compensation in compliance with the regulations.

I live in a rented apartment, do I need permission to install the solar kit?

If you have a private terrace , you don't usually need to ask the landlord for permission, although we recommend informing them.

If it's on a communal terrace or balcony facing the facade , it's best to consult with the community of neighbors.

The balcony solar kit doesn't modify the electrical installation, requires no construction work, and is easy to assemble and disassemble. If you move, you can take it with you without damaging the property.

It is a mobile, practical and home-friendly system, ideal for rental apartments.

Can government subsidies be requested for the installation of a self-installable solar kit?

Yes , provided that certain requirements are met and the installation is legalized as self-consumption.

This allows you to:

  • Access to public subsidies.
  • Receive compensation for surpluses.
  • Increase the security and coverage of your home insurance.

Requirements for admission:

  • Legalize the installation as self-consumption.
  • Have a CIE issued by an authorized installer.
  • Submit technical documentation (report/project, invoice, etc.).
  • In some cases, demonstrating connection to the electrical panel or safety requirements.

Types of assistance available:

  • NextGenerationEU Plan grants (managed by autonomous communities).
  • Tax breaks on IBI or ICIO (offered by many municipalities).
  • Specific regional aid for self-consumption and energy efficiency.

How many years does the Avocado 22 Pro last?

The system offers a 10-year warranty and supports up to 8,000 charging cycles , which equates to approximately 30 years of useful life under normal conditions. Reliable, durable, and designed to last for decades.

Do I need an electrician for the installation?

For normal use, no: the battery simply plugs into a standard socket.

You only need an electrician if you want to use a smart meter. In Spain, the electricity meter is usually outside the home, locked and not accessible. That's why we use the Shelly Pro EM 50A, which is installed in your own fuse box. This installation is done by an electrician.

What is the maximum charging power through the PV ports of the Avocado S22 Pro?

The maximum solar charging power of one unit is 2600 W , plus an additional 1200 W through the emergency socket, which adds up to a total of 3800 W.

I have more than four solar panels. How do I connect them?

Use our Y-cable connectors , available in the accessories section. Important: For each input, ensure you do not exceed 60V and 24A .

How does the Avocado S 22 Pro perform during a power outage?

It's that easy:

  1. The Off-Grid output supplies up to 1200 W ; the On-Grid output is inactive.
  2. Solar energy first powers your devices and recharges the battery with the surplus.
  3. If the sun isn't enough, panels and battery work together to maintain the supply.
  4. At night, the Avocado S 22 Pro takes care of powering your devices.

Intelligent autonomy, without interruptions.

Can I take the Avocado S22 Pro on an adventure?

Yeah!

The system is perfect for camping, weekend getaways, or any location without mains electricity. With its emergency power outlet, you can power your essential devices, and if you carry flexible solar panels, you can recharge the battery wherever you are.

How does shipping work?
